Poetry Break 30

An original poem you have written yourself

The Bad Beginning
by Pat Loew

 The story isn’t very happy

Bad things always happen just when the

 Beginning starts to get exciting

Acrostics using titles, The Bad Beginning

Introduction
I'm not very good at writing but acrostics are fun.

Extension
Explain  what acrostic poems are.
Read the book Spring  An Alphabet Acrostic by Steven Schnur. Explain to the class they will be making their own acrostic poems
Acrostic are fun to do at the beginning of a school year.
Write your name on the board and for each letter tell something about yourself. Have the class try it. It is an easy way to learn about their classmates.
You can also do book titles (as in the example The Bad Beginning).
