Beaton Clare .2000. Mother Goose Remembers, New York: Barefoot Books, ISBN 1-84148-073-8.

Once again Clare Beaton the author of, How Big is a Pig and Secret Seahorse has taken her wonderful sewing expertise and used it  to illustrate the book, Mother Goose Remembers. The illustrations are so realistic you will want to touch them just to make sure they are not real. The embellishments Beaton uses in her pictures are: felt, beads, sequences, buttons and antique lace. Clare adds a new freshness to the nursery rhymes with her illustrations. Mother Goose Remembers is thoughtfully compiled with classic Mother Goose rhymes such as This Little Pig went to market, Baa, Baa, Black Sheep and Little Miss Muffet.
In the beginning of the book a boy ask Mother Goose for feathers. In this book Mother Goose is actually a goose.

 Cackle, Cackle, Mother Goose

Have you any feathers loose?

Truly have I pretty fellow,

Half enough to fill a pillow.

Here are quills, take one or two

And down to make a bed for you.

Mother Goose Remembers consist of 46 favorite nursery rhymes with one rhyme per page. The enlarged pictures are easy on the eyes especially for the younger child. The detailed work is sure to draw attention as in the flowers of  Mary Mary Quite Contrary

As Mother Goose is filling the pillows a few feathers get loose. Children will enjoy turning the pages looking for the feathers as they seem to travel from one nursery rhyme to another. Only one rhyme is on a page allowing it to be more detailed. An appropriate ending to the book is when all the loose feathers have been collected and it’s time for bed.

Cackle, Cackle, Mother Goose,

Thank you for your feathers loose.

‘Twas my pleasure, sleepy head,

And now it’s time to go to bed!

Children will love sitting down listening to the book as it is read over and over.

Janet M Blair writes, "If your Mother Goose collection is overstocked, you might consider weeding making room for this original, highly appealing version.
